Brand Identity • Logo System • Rebrand • Mascot Design • Retail Branding

Plant Rarities is a tropical houseplant retailer operating at expos, markets, and pop-up events. The brand required a complete visual overhaul to better reflect its vibrant product selection and approachable personality. The goal was to create a system that felt friendly, memorable, and cohesive across both physical and digital spaces. This project included logo development, mascot creation, brand guidelines, website refresh, product photography direction, and social media branding.
The primary audience includes young adults, plant enthusiasts, and families seeking accessible plant care. The existing branding lacked distinction in a saturated market of minimalist plant logos. The opportunity was to differentiate through character and warmth. Drawing from rubber-hose animation styles, refined with subtle references to traditional pottery forms, the direction introduced a smiling plant pot mascot integrated directly into the logo system. A grounded green and brown palette reinforced the natural, earthy identity while maintaining visual impact at busy market environments.
The logo suite was developed to ensure flexibility across applications, including: Primary horizontal logo, Stacked variation, Monogram mark, Standalone mascot icon The character functions as both brand identifier and storytelling device, appearing across signage, packaging, social media graphics, and vendor displays. Typography was selected to balance charm with clarity, playful without sacrificing legibility in high-traffic retail settings. The system was designed for scalability, supporting everything from small product tags to large-scale market banners.
The final result is a cohesive brand ecosystem that feels distinctive and inviting within competitive market spaces. The character-driven identity increases memorability, while the structured logo system ensures long-term usability. This rebrand demonstrates strategic identity design — where personality, audience, and application align to create a recognizable and adaptable brand presence.
